What is Constitution Assembly and why it is going to be held? Why inclusive state system is necessary? How is the discussion going on in city and capital about the issues on re-structure of state? Taradevi Hitan of Shree Nagar Chhatyaldanda,Mugu wants to talk on that sorts of issues. She knows little bit on that but Radio Program “Naya Nepal” that broadcast from world space radio receiver, has became her friend to know about her curiosity. What world space radio is? How did she know about it, who sometimes listens to the Radio Nepal? Have you seen the second part of Hindi picture “Munna Bhai MBBS” or “Lage Raho Munnabhai” just think that in these film how does the voice of actress listen to by Sanjay Dutta on a radio that radio is World Space Radio. Is this radio set available in the Nepali market? No. So how does it reach in a remote Karnali zone? Said Tara Devi, “It is given by local organization.” This radio receiver is brought to Karnali Rural Development and Research Centre by NGO named Equal Access.
The program Naya Nepal, Saathi Sanga Man Ka Kura, Kama Ka Kura, Desh Pardesh, Kheldai Sikkadai, Kura Khasra Mitha can be heard on that World Space Satellite Radio in 40 communities of five districts in Karnali. Inhabitants of Karnali Zone, who are far away from the Radio Nepal and local FM, now they are feeling aware on after getting to listen useful program in satellite radio. Bale BK a resident of Tadi vdc in Kalikot feels happy to listen about contemporary issues in simple way on that radio. Says, “We only listen about Naya Nepal from leaders and whatever they said, we had to believe but now we believe whatever radio said. Youths of Jumla,Jatebhid have kept the radio in a house that is located in the top of the village then they listen to the program Naya Nepal. They say “By making the voice loud, we listen to the program sitting in a house, while teaching in school, working in the field and grasp. The program provides important as well as useful information. It has made us cleverer than before.”
This technology had reached in Karnali one year ago. This radio has reduced the hunger of information to Karnali’s inhabitants reaching the remote village of 5 districts. According to Dhan Bdr. Gautam, a resident of Gautambada,Jumla ,after listening these program, locals have got advantage taking the knowledge about debatable issues. He says, “There is the rise of spirit of unity after listening to the program in groups.” All the villagers openly discuss about women rights, child rights and peace process.”
This radio program is brought to by the joint collaboration with UNDP in 2000 A.D. According to the director of Equal Access, Michael Boshi, the program is being broadcasted with the mentality to rise the living standard of geographically back warded community after receiving right information in a easy way.
Upendra Aryal, is being happy who once a time is popular from Radio Program “MirMire Bhaka” broadcasted from Radio Sagarmatha, to take the responsibilities to give equal access and equal information to Nepalese. “My voice is rooted on a nationwide, before it was used in a limited place.’ Aryal, who is the co-ordinator of radio program’s content.
After knowing the knowledge about its positive impact on community, Nirmal Rijal, who after completing his study on engineering, took an interest to work on the field of communication for development, feels satisfaction. “We not only spread out the message in remote 40 community of Karnali zone but also collecting local knowledge and understanding to their local voice, we are broadcasting to other parts of the country through Radio Program.
