Internews in its programs report says several journalists gathered in the roundtable held in different countries in middle-east said that young people turn to social media because mass media has failed to play its watchdog role. Youth don’t trust the media in Palestine. It does not relate to them, it does not give a voice to the people. Even mass media journalist began trusting the social media like Facebook more saying, because news or views social media produces come from real people.
Growing popularity of social media has made media experts, academicians and universities realize the need of creation of new media and social media course in universities. This need is realized because people need to understand what social media is its tool. On the other hand new media is facing growing criticisms in terms of reliability, authenticity, credibility; sources etc and critics are those who practice mass media. Therefore, time for both new media promoters and practitioners has come up to make people understand about the impacts of new media to be able to utilize them correctly.
